Anthony M. Vassallo (“Tony”) is personable, friendly attentive and extremely creative and knowledgeable as Of Counsel to JSBarkats, PLLC running the Bankruptcy group, and is an attorney who has devoted his entire legal career to representing businesses and individuals as debtors, creditors or trustees in both corporate and personal bankruptcy proceedings, including some of the largest bankruptcy proceedings filed in the United States including, among others, Adelphia Communications Corporation (debtors), Enron Corporation (debtors), Delphi Corporation (debtors), XO Communications, Inc. (debtor), Refco, LLC (trustee), Reader’s Digest Ass’n (t.v. personality), Episcopal Health Services (debtors), and National Steel Corp. (lender), and Gawker Media LLC (2 members of the official creditors’ committee).
After graduating from law school, Tony was a judicial law clerk for 2 years for the Hon. Tina L. Brozman, former Chief Judge of United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York.
After completing his clerkship, he worked for more than 10 years in nationally renowned bankruptcy departments of three law firms: Willkie Farr & Gallagher, LLP; Togut Segal & Segal, LLP; and Golenbock Eiseman Assor Bell & Peskoe, LLP. Later, Tony worked for 2 years as in-house counsel for a major financial institution managing a nationwide portfolio of 150 active consumer bankruptcies involving mortgage loan issues.
Tony graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Latin and history and earned his law degree from Brooklyn Law School. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York as well as the District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
